Marks of a Real Man of God

Marks of a Real Man of God. What are the marks or appearance of a real man of God? We need to begin this study by throwing away and cleaning out thinking of what the world and religious hypocrites say he is. We go to the Bible, and look at what the Word says.

1Tim 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Paul noted three elements of a man of God: He has to flee, follow, and fight.

Flee from sin.

Follow justice, holiness, faith, love, and patience, and meekness.

Fight the good fight of faith.

Pride versus Humility.

A Mature Man

I think one of the important marks of a man of God is that he is spiritually mature. That means he understands the power of sin to destroy a person’s life, and also to destroy the relationships that should be helping a person with troubles.
A real man of God understands that he should hate greatly the sin, but also greatly love the sinner. I think of my job as a spiritual caretaker of men’s souls like this. A sheep may love their shepherd, but when any animal is stuck in a fence and it is hurting, it may kick, bite, or hit at the good shepherd that is trying to help it. So we as pastors must ignore attacks from our sheep when they are hurting and in sin. Our purpose and goal is to be a spiritual benefit to their souls.
